CARE & CLEANING

Keep the brilliance. Lose the buildup.

Fine jewellery does not need complicated maintenance. A few simple habits will keep the diamond bright, the metal clean and the setting protected.

EVERYDAY CARE

Three habits make the biggest difference.

01

Put it on last

Apply perfume, lotion, sunscreen and hair products first. Let them dry before putting your jewellery on.

02

Take it off for impact

Remove jewellery before the gym, swimming, heavy cleaning, gardening or anything that may knock or pull the setting.

03

Wipe before storing

Use a soft, lint-free cloth after wear to remove oils and surface residue before putting the piece away.

AT-HOME CLEANING

Warm water. Mild soap. Soft brush.

For most diamond and gold jewellery, a gentle clean is enough. Fill a small bowl with warm—not hot—water and a few drops of mild dish soap.

1. Soak briefly

Leave the piece in the solution for around 10–15 minutes to loosen oils and residue.

2. Brush gently

Use a very soft toothbrush around the underside of the diamond, prongs and small crevices. Do not force the brush into the setting.

3. Rinse and dry

Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Let the piece air dry completely before storing it.

WHAT TO AVOID

More cleaning is not always better.

Harsh chemicals

Avoid bleach, chlorine, acetone and abrasive household cleaners. They can damage finishes, weaken metal or leave residue.

Toothpaste & powders

Abrasive pastes and powders may scratch gold and are unnecessary for cleaning diamonds.

Ultrasonic cleaning at home

Ultrasonic cleaners can loosen stones in vulnerable settings. Use professional inspection first if you are unsure.

Sleeping in jewellery

Repeated pressure and snagging can slowly stress chains, prongs and delicate settings.

STORAGE

Give every piece its own space.

Store jewellery in a dry pouch, lined box or separate compartment. Diamonds can scratch other jewellery—and other diamonds—when pieces rub against each other.

Fasten chains before storing them, keep earrings paired, and avoid leaving jewellery loose in a handbag or drawer.

If you travel with jewellery, use a compact organiser with separate padded sections rather than placing multiple pieces in one pouch.

PROFESSIONAL CARE

Sometimes it needs more than a cloth.

Have the piece checked if you notice any movement, catching, bending or change around the setting.

01

A stone feels loose

Stop wearing the piece and have the setting inspected before the stone is lost.

02

A prong catches fabric

A raised or worn prong can be an early sign that the setting needs attention.

03

The metal looks worn

Scratches are normal with use, but deep damage, deformation or clasp issues should be professionally assessed.
